[0164] The preparation of the supported catalyst can be carried out using methods known in the art, for example i) a metal catalyst precursor can be reacted with a supported MAO to produce a supported catalyst; ii) MAO can be reacted with a metal catalyst precursor, and the resulting The mixture is added to silica to form a supported catalyst; iii) the metal catalyst precursor immobilized on the support can react with soluble MAO.

[0165] Copolymerization of olefins with olefins containing main group metal hydrocarbyl chain transfer agent functionality

[0166] Step A) is preferably carried out in an inert atmosphere.

[0167] The copolymerization of olefins can, for example, be carried out in the gas phase below the melting point of the polymer. Copolymerization can also be carried out in the slurry phase below the melting point of the polymer. Furthermore, the copolymerization can be carried out in solution at a temperature above the melting point of the polymer product...

[0222] general considerations

[0223] All manipulations were performed under an inert dry nitrogen atmosphere using standard Schlenk or glove box techniques. Dry, oxygen-free toluene was used as solvent for all polymerizations. Catalyst rac-Me 2 Si(Ind) 2 ZrCl 2 , C 5 Me 4 (SiMe 2 NtBu)TiCl 2 and rac-Me 2 Si(Ind) 2 HfCl 2 was purchased from mCAT GmbH, Konstanz, Germany. Methylaluminoxane (MAO, 30 wt.% solution in toluene) was purchased from Chemtura. Tris(isobutyl)aluminum (TIBA, 1.0M solution in hexane), tetrachloroethane-d 2 , Diisobutylaluminum hydride solution (1.0M solution in THF) was purchased from Sigma Aldrich. Trityltetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate was purchased from Acros Organics. ω-pentadecanolactone (PDL) (98%, Sigma-Aldrich) by CaH 2 Dry and distill under reduced pressure. ...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of polyolefin-based graft copolymers comprising a first long-chain branched polyolefin block and one or more polymer side chains. The functionalized long-chain branched polyolefins are produced by copolymerization of olefin monomers and olefins having main group metal hydrocarbyl functional groups. The invention also relates to the polyolefins obtained by the end of the process. The graft copolymers according to the invention can then be produced, for example, by ring-opening polymerization of cyclic monomers or by transesterification of preformed transesterifiable polymers, in particular polyesters or polycarbonates. The invention furthermore relates to the polyolefin-based graft copolymers obtained by said process.

Description

[0001] illustrate [0002] The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of polyolefin-based graft copolymers comprising a first long-chain branched polyolefin block and one or more polymer side chains. Functionalized long chain branched polyolefins are produced by copolymerization of olefin monomers and olefins having main group metal hydrocarbyl functionality according to formula 1a. Background technique [0003] The present invention relates to the preparation of polyolefin-based graft copolymers comprising a first long-chain branched ...
