Abstract

The invention provides a speed control system and method for a driverless vehicle passing through intersections. The speed control system comprises three sub-systems, that is, an automobile AVCS, a road information acquisition system and an intersection area control center system. The control and data transmission among the three sub-systems are connected and processed by a wireless computer. Thespeed control system and method realize the information interaction between the driverless vehicle and a vehicle and between the vehicle and a road, the factors of road surface texture, a vehicle running state, a road surface weather environment and a road intersection shape are considered, and the running speed of the driverless vehicle passing through the intersections on a dry road surface is measured and controlled, and at the same time, the driving behavior between vehicles in the intersection areas with large traffic flow is early warned.
