Embodiment Construction
[0046] A user equipment or station, such as a machine type device or a sensor device, intended to operate in a wireless network such as a wireless local area network (WLAN), may have an independent low Power wake up radio (Wake Up Radio, WUR) circuit. A WUR circuit is typically a low-power receiver circuit designed to receive and detect wake-up signals, and in some examples may be a simplified version of the main WLAN transceiver circuit, and may be on an integrated circuit (IC) or chip accomplish. The WUR circuitry communicates with the WLAN transceiver circuitry or other equivalent circuitry in the device so that the WLAN transceiver circuitry can sleep and save power until the WUR circuitry wakes up the WLAN transceiver circuitry. The WUR circuit wakes up the WLAN transceiver circuit or other equivalent circuit upon detection of a wake-up signal from the access point AP (typically the AP associated with the WLAN device).
