The liquid crystal composition contains at least one compound represented by a general formula I and at least one compound represented by a general formula II; in the general formula I, each of R<1> and R<2> separately represents a C1-C12 straight-chain alkyl group, a straight-chain alkoxy groups or a C2-C12 straight-chain alkenyl group, each of L<1> and L<2> separately represents H or F, and n<1> is equal to 0 or 1; and in the general formula II, each of R<3> and R<4> separately represents a C1-C12 straight-chain alkyl group, a straight-chain alkoxy group or a C2-C12 straight-chain alkenyl group, and each of ring A<1> and ring A<2> separately represents trans-1,4-cyclohexyl or 1,4-phenylene. The liquid crystal composition provided by the invention has low rotational viscosity, good low-temperature intersolubility and fast response time, is suitable for vertical alignment (VA) liquid crystal display devices such as VA / multi-domain vertical alignment (MVA) / patterned vertical alignment (PVA) / polymer stabilized vertical alignment (PSVA) liquid crystal display devices and in-plane switching (IPS) and fringe field switching (FFS) liquid crystal display devices, and is particularly suitable for IPS or FFS mode liquid crystal displays.
