The invention relates to a negative dielectric anisotropic liquid crystal composition or rather a negative dielectric anisotropic liquid crystal composition containing one or more dichlorobicyclohexyl compounds and an application thereof. The composition is mainly used for electrooptical adjustment and is especially suitable for FFS (fringe field switching) displays, IPS (in-plane switching) displays and MVA (multi-domain vertical alignment)/PVA (patterned vertical alignment)/PSVA (polymer-stabilized vertical alignment) configuration VA (vertical alignment) type displays. The liquid crystal composition provided by the invention has high optical anisotropy, excellent low-temperature intersolubility and good high temperature and UV (ultraviolet) stability, and is suitable for fast response display devices in various display modes. The defect of relatively low optical anisotropy is overcome, the optical anisotropy of the composition is effectively improved, and the thickness of the liquid crystal layer is reduced, thereby increasing the response speed of the liquid crystal displays. Applied to the liquid crystal display devices, the liquid crystal composition can obviously solve the problem of slow response of the devices and has huge application prospects and market values.
