Abstract

The invention relates to battery thermal runaway detection methods and devices. The method comprises the steps of obtaining voltage detection data of a plurality of voltage detection points in a battery, and a plurality of pieces of temperature detection data of a plurality of temperature detection points in the battery; computing a temperature rising rate of the battery according to the pluralityof pieces of temperature detection data; and judging whether thermal runaway occurs in the battery or not according to the plurality of pieces of voltage detection data, the plurality of pieces of temperature detection data and the temperature rising rate. Through utilization of the technical scheme, the plurality of pieces of voltage detection data and the plurality of pieces of temperature detection data can be obtained according to the plurality of voltage detection points and temperature detection points set in the battery, the temperature rising rate of the battery is computed accordingto the temperature detection data, and whether the thermal runaway occurs in the battery or not is predicted through judgment of three aspects of the voltage detection data, the temperature detectiondata and the temperature rising rate. Through utilization of a multi-condition coupled method, battery thermal runaway and diffusion can be detected relatively timely and precisely under a plurality of working conditions.
