Problems solved by technology

In these convex products, the convex shape of the adhesive is determined by the convex shape of the annular body, so that the shape of the adhesive cannot be adapted to the shape around the user's surgical opening
In addition, air pockets may form, resulting in incomplete adhesion to the user's skin

Embodiment Construction

[0020] figure 1 The ostomy products shown to 4 and the ostomy products shown in Figs. 5, 6 have many technical features in common and are therefore given the same reference numerals.

[0021] Figure 4 shows an annular body 10 made of a plastic which is flexible and relatively rigid and therefore substantially dimensionally stable under normal loads. The annular body 10 has a convex adjacent surface 11 which, in the axial section shown, presents an "S"-shaped curve. Furthermore, the annular body 10 also has a top surface 12 which is flat in this embodiment, but can take other shapes as desired.

[0022] Adhesive layer 20 is in the shape of a circular disc and is made of an adhesive suitable for human skin that adheres to human skin over a generally extended period of time. Adhered to the top surface of this layer of adhesive 20 is a thermoplastic carrier sheet 30 having approximately the same radial length as the adhesive 20 . Fig. 4 shows the carrier sheet 30 together with ...

Abstract

An ostomy appliance is a convex product where a layer of adhesive is present to the convex side of the product. The adhesive is present on a thermoplastic carrier sheet disposed between the adhesive and a ring-shaped body having a convex proximal side, and the carrier sheet is attached, e.g. by welding, to the ring-shaped body along the inner periphery and the outer periphery thereof. At its peripheral, plane part, the appliance has a plane layer of a thermostable material, such as paper, in close connection with the adhesive. The thermostable material extends radially outside the outer periphery of the ring-shaped body and provides stability during thermoforming.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an ostomy appliance, the proximal face of which is a convex surface with an adhesive, the ostomy appliance can be adhered to the skin of a user by means of said adhesive, the ostomy appliance The top surface of the ostomy appliance also carries a collection bag or an attachment part. Background technique [0002] In the following text an ostomy patient is defined as a person who has had a colostomy, ileostomy, or ureterostomy in which the colon, ileum, and ureters have been surgically exposed so that the Bodily waste is drained through a stoma and collected in a collection bag, which is usually adhered to the skin by means of an adhesive plate with holes surrounding the surgical port. [0003] It is often seen in ostomy patients that the most proximal area 1-2 cm from the ostium is sunken, or in a hollow or cavity relative to the rest of the skin surface surrounding the ostomy. For such patients, it is appropriate to ...
