[0019] Figure 1 to Figure 5 A heat exchanger is shown, such as a water-filled air cooler. The heat exchanger comprises an inlet header plate 11 and an outlet header plate 21, both of which are made of metallic material such as aluminium. These header plates 11 and 21 are intended to be connected in a known manner to an inlet header (not shown) and an outlet header (not shown), respectively. figure 2 Also shown are gaskets 13 and 23 for sealing the connection between the header plates and the respective header tanks.

[0020] The heat exchanger 1 also comprises a core 30 comprising a plurality of parallel flat tubes 31 extending between the header plates 11 and 21 . The tube 31 is made of a metal material such as aluminum. Each tube 31 has opposite ends respectively inserted into openings or slots formed in either of the header plates 11 and 21 . Each tube 31 has an approximately rectangular cross-section and includes a pair of opposing long side walls and a pair of oppos...

Abstract

The invention discloses a heat exchanger, and the heat exchanger comprises a plurality of parallel tubes for conveying a first fluid; a pair of header plates, each having a plurality of openings intowhich respective ends of the tubes are inserted in a fluid-tight manne; a jacket connected to the header plates in a fluid-tight manner and defining with the header plates, an inner volume for receiving a second fluid, the tubes being placed within the inner volume; and a fluid channel joined to a wall of the jacket, the fluid channel being in fluid communication with the inner volume through an opening formed through the wall, wherein the wall is, on an opposite side relative to the fluid channel, joined to sidewalls of said tubes. The wall of the jacket comprises a plurality of tube coveringextensions extending between opposite edges of the opening and defining a plurality of slots alternating with the tube covering extensions, each tube covering extension being joined to a respective sidewall of a respective tube.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to heat exchangers, and more particularly to heat exchangers used in automotive applications. [0002] Specifically, the present invention relates to an exchanger comprising: [0003] a plurality of parallel tubes for conveying the first fluid; [0004] a pair of header plates each having a plurality of openings into which respective ends of the tubes are inserted in a fluid-tight manner; [0005] a jacket connected to the header sheet in a fluid-tight manner and defining with the header sheet an interior volume for receiving a second fluid, the tubes being placed within the interior volume; [0006] as well as [0007] a fluid channel joined to a wall of the sheath, the fluid channel being in fluid communication with the interior volume through an opening formed through the wall, wherein the wall is connected to the tube on the opposite side from the fluid channel side wall. Background technique [0008] He...
