Embodiment Construction
[0086] Vital signs are not only important for pathological studies, but are also widely cited by wearable devices to infer behavior, emotion, and health status. Although many of these devices are already well-scaled and widely used, current devices suffer from drawbacks that limit their sensing accuracy or long-term convenience. The present disclosure may be embodied as a method for near-field coherent sensing ("NCS") that modulates the motion of an individual onto a radio frequency ("RF") signal, which may be a multiplexed RF signal. Movement of an individual may include, for example, movement related to vital signs, such as heartbeat, pulse, respiration, and the like. Embodiments of the method may directly modulate the mechanical motion of an individual's body surface or inside the body into an RF signal in the near-field range. Motion can be modulated onto a multiplexed harmonic RF identification ("RFID") backscatter signal with a unique digital identification ("ID").
