In order to provide the four-gear speed change mechanism which is compact in structure, small in size, large in reduction ratio and high in power density for the automatic gearbox, the speed change mechanism is provided with two planet rows, four operating parts and two transmission components, wherein the first planet row is a simple planet row and comprises a row of gear rings R1, a row of planet carriers CA1 and a row of sun gears S1, and the second planet row is a common planet row and comprises the planet carriers CA1 shared by the first planet row, two rows of sun gears S2 and a sun gear S3.
