Abstract

A drug delivery device has a reservoir for containing a drug, a pressurization system for dispensing the drug from the reservoir in operation, a hollow cannula for insertion into a patient, and a fluid delivery path disposed between the pressurization system and the hollow cannula and delivering the drug therebetween. The drug delivery device also has a pressure sensor which is external to the pressurization system and senses the back pressure in the fluid delivery path and provides an indication when the back pressure drops below a predetermined threshold after the pressurization system stopsoperating. A drug delivery pen and a drug delivery injector are also disclosed.
