Abstract

The present invention discloses an automated networked carbon sink / sequestration estimation system and method that will estimate the amount of CO2 immobilized / sequestered by various types of plants and will help estimate the effects of forestation, deforestation, forest protection, and the like in terms of carbon sequestration. The CO2 sequestration estimation system includes a battery / AC operatedauto-sensing CSE device (carbon sequestration estimation device), so as to use a 02 sensor, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor and a light intensity sensor etc to measure the rates of respiration and photosynthesis to monitor the amount of carbon sequestration that occurs in a given land area. Sensing devices (CSE devices) have sensors for various physical parameters (e.g., 02 concentration,C02 concentration, light intensity, temperature and humidity, etc.). The CSE device forms a wired / wireless network using any suitable communication protocol. The CSE device sends the data to an administrator at the backend server through the hopping device.
