Embodiment 1
[0021] Mancozeb (Dithane DF Fungicide Rohm and Haas company) slurry spray-drying preparation Mancozeb dispersible granules, sample A does not include PVA, sample B includes PVA with a hydrolysis rate of 88%, and an average molecular weight of 18,000, and sample C includes a hydrolysis rate of 88%. % of PVA with an average molecular weight of 115,000. The amount of PVA is 0.5% based on the weight of the final product. Table I shows the physical properties of the above samples. The sample (B) with low molecular weight PVA had good suspending properties, but the performance of sample (C) with high molecular weight deteriorated greatly. All samples containing PVA improved the wet-on time of the granules. For health and safety reasons it is desirable to keep the particles intact under pressure in order to reduce dust formation. Therefore, the samples endured 10 minutes of steel ball agitation. Estimation of particle size wear by sieve analysis. The ideal particle size of the...
Embodiment 2
[0024] Two WP samples containing 80% mancozeb were prepared from a commercial WP (Dithane M-45 Fungicide) (i.e., sample A) was prepared by dry blending sample (A) with 88% hydrolyzed PVA with a molecular weight of 18,000 at a weight ratio of 0.5% to obtain sample (B). These samples were then tested for suspension, kept in plastic trays for 1 inch rain (visual inspection), and controlled for tomato late blight (TLB) in a humid greenhouse. Table II shows the test results. Formulations containing low molecular weight PVA have improved after-rain retention and disease control over standard formulations while maintaining good suspendability.

Embodiment 3
[0027] Three samples of 37% mancozeb concentrated suspension were prepared from a commercially available concentrated suspension (Dithane F-45 Fungicide, Rohm and Haas Company) (i.e. sample A), sample (A) is mixed with 88% hydrolyzed PVA with an average molecular weight of 18,000 to obtain sample (B), and sample (A) is mixed with 88 % Hydrolyzed PVA having an average molecular weight of 115,000 was blended to obtain a sample (C). The amount of PVA was 0.15% based on the weight of the final product. Samples were mixed in a standard laboratory mixer until the polymers were dissolved. Table III shows the physical properties of these samples. While viscosity decreases with increasing polymer molecular weight, gel strength increases to unacceptable levels (eg >100 g-cm) as polymer molecular weight increases. Although sample (C) increased rainfastness with increasing PVA molecular weight and had better control of TLB virus under wet conditions than low molecular weight PVA (sam...
