The method comprises the following steps: manufacturing a to-be-detected fiber sample: manufacturing a cut fiber sample into the to-be-detected fiber sample by using a cloth sample machine; detecting a to-be-detected fiber sample: acquiring an image of the to-be-detected fiber sample by using the detector, and sending the acquired image to the computer; processing an image of the to-be-detected fiber sample, wherein the computer processes the obtained image to obtain a data table containing the fiber diameter and the number of the fibers with the same fiber diameter, and the corresponding fiber diameter when the number of the fibers with the same fiber diameter is maximum is obtained from the data table to serve as a normal fiber diameter alpha; and calculating the doubling rate of fibers, in which the diameter beta of the abnormal fibers is calculated according to the formula that beta = alpha * 1.5, the number E of the fibers with the diameter larger than or equal to the diameter beta of the abnormal fibers and the total number T of the detected fibers are obtained according to the data table, and the doubling rate P of the to-be-detected fibers is calculated according to the formula that P = E / T * 100%.
