[0042] The research subjects of the present invention were all from the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Medical University (June 2019 to December 2020). In this study, we recruited 214 patients with suspected NEC and 54 infants with physiological jaundice as healthy controls. Before collecting the enrolled patients, we established strict inclusion criteria according to the modified Bell staging, with one or more of the following clinical symptoms suspected of NEC: lethargy, vomiting, gastric retention, abdominal distension, blood in the stool; exclusion criteria, (1) Patients who are unwilling to participate in this study (2) Patients with major congenital malformations (3) Patients with genetic diseases (4) Patients with missing information (5) Patients with other non-NEC and non-FPIES intestinal diseases. Abstract

The invention relates to a cytokine IL-27 as a marker for differential diagnosis of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) and an application of the cytokine IL-27, and belongs to the technical field of medicines. The invention provides a novel differential diagnosis marker mainly aiming at the problem of difficulty in differential diagnosis of NEC and FPIES. The expression level of IL-27 in the blood plasma of NEC and FPIES children is higher than that of a normal control group, the expression level of IL-27 in the blood plasma of NEC and FPIES children is higher than that of FPIES children, NEC and FPIES can be well identified according to the level of IL-27 in the blood plasma, the sensitivity is 84.93, the specificity is 81.63, and the area under an ROC curve is 0.877. The plasma IL-27 as a differential diagnosis marker of NEC and FPIES has better diagnosis efficiency, can provide reference for pediatricians, and is beneficial to clinical decision making.
