According to the method, whether a parking space exists on the roadside or not can be effectively detected, if yes, whether the size of the parking space meets the size of a vehicle or not is judged, and if yes, the automatic parking system can park the vehicle; and if no parking space exists or the size of the parking space does not meet the size of the vehicle, the vehicle continues to run and detect until the parking space is found and parking is completed, and a theoretical basis is provided for promoting development of the automatic driving technology. According to the invention, the automatic driving technology and the parking space detection technology are fully combined, the automatic driving vehicle parking system is realized, the travel time of the user is saved, the automatic driving efficiency is improved, and the development of the automatic driving and automatic parking technology can be effectively promoted.
