Thereby, the method (100) comprises: a) providing a plurality of modular panels (110); and b) providing a liquid channel network (120). Wherein the plurality of modular panels (110) are adapted to be configured to be usable as a roof covering waste mineral rocks (210) of the strip mine area (200), thereby minimizing contact between the waste mineral rocks (210) and climate liquids and thereby reducing the effects of chemical reactions therebetween; wherein the liquid channel network (120) is adapted to operate in association with the plurality of modular panels (110) through a gutter system (122) to collect and divert climate liquid to further mitigate or reduce the formation of AMD.
