Problems solved by technology

[0004] In other cases the presence of lipases is important but they may have side effects
For example, lipase is present in detergents to enhance the removal of fatty soils, but the presence of active enzymes on washed fabrics is undesirable
Lipases are also present in our digestive system, but their activity is limited eg to reducing obesity, so it may be desirable

Embodiment Construction

[0010] The copolymeric compounds of the invention described herein reduce the enzymatic activity of lipase by inactivating the enzyme. Accordingly, the present invention relates to the use of the copolymeric compounds described hereinafter for the preparation of compositions for inhibiting or reducing lipase activity.

[0011] Lipases can be derived from microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeasts, or produced by the human or animal body, can also be obtained from the diet or can be derived from products that include lipases.

[0012] The main activity of lipase is the hydrolysis of fats in the form of esters (such as glycerides present in human skin) and the resulting production of fatty acids and glycerol, which are the source of energy in the body, but can also cause irritation, dandruff, and body odor . Since this group of enzymes is widely distributed in microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeast, human body, animal body and body excretions, they are almost always ...

Abstract

The invention relates to the preparation of compositions for reduction of the enzyme activity of lipase enzymes, using copolymeric compounds of average molecular weight of at least 400, having a polyalkoxy backbone, comprising at least one branched alkoxy unit and at least one linear alkoxy unit. The invention also relates to the use of these specific copolymeric or compositions prepared therewith, for reduction of the lipase enzyme activity, in particular of the enzyme activity of micro-organisms, in particular for reduction of skin rash or irritation, dandruff formation and malodour of the body, and for increase of the longevity of perfumes and for the preservation of food and beverage products.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to copolymeric compounds which inhibit lipase or reduce the activity of lipase and compositions containing these compounds. Background technique [0002] Various types of enzymes are present on our skin, including enzymes from microorganisms, enzymes from the diet, and enzymes produced by the body. These enzymes are known to have undesired side reactions. For example, these enzymes are believed to produce skin rashes and potentially infect the body, which is for example a problem for users of articles that come into contact with the skin and have lipase on them such as bandages, plasters, diapers, Incontinence products, sanitary napkins, training pants, and more. Also, these enzymes are considered to be responsible for the development of dandruff and acne. [0003] It has now been found that lipases are responsible for the development of body odour, due (in part) to enzymes produced by fatty acids, some of which are excreted from the body...
