Abstract

Provided is a new parameter for replacing conventional amount of jitters, when information recorded on a disk medium is reproduced. This device holds a plurality of ideal values as an equalization target, when PR (partial response) equalization is performed. Further, this device is provided with an error minimization circuit (15) for updating the tap coefficient of a FIR (finite impulse response) filter (16) so as to minimize errors between outputs of the FIR filter (16) corresponding to outputs of an ADC (analog / digital converter) (11) and the equalization target, and an error detector circuit (13) and an addition weighting circuit (17) for generating signals indicating the errors between the outputs of the FIR filter (16) and the equalization target, as parameter signals correlating with error rate of reproduction data. The margin of the error rate of reproduction data is optimized by adjusting analog signal quality so as to minimize the parameter signals.
