Embodiment Construction

[0038] To facilitate understanding of the present invention, the drawings are not drawn to scale. The figures show only one half of the vehicle, which extends symmetrically about the axis XX', which represents the longitudinal median plane of the vehicle.

[0039] figure 1 is a schematic illustration of a vehicle half 1 according to the invention with four tires on the rear drive axle 6 and two steer tires on the front steering axle 7 . Since only the vehicle half is shown in the figure, only two tires 2, 3 on the rear axle 6 and one tire 4 on the front axle 7 are shown.

[0040] exist figure 1 The vehicle 1 schematically shown in is a heavy vehicle with a gross payload of 600 metric tons.

[0041] The tires equipped on this vehicle are large tires with a section height-to-width ratio H / S of 0.80, where H is the height of the tire on the rim, and S is the maximum axial width of the tire when the tire is mounted on its intended rim and inflated to the recommended air pressur...

Abstract

The invention relates to a heavy vehicle of a mass greater than 40 metric tons, such as a transport vehicle or a 'civil engineering' vehicle, comprising a steering axle provided with at least two tires and a driving axle by which is transmitted at least part of the motive power. According to the invention, the driving axle comprises four tires, at most two tires transmitting permanently at least part of the motive power and at least the tires of the driving axle being individually associated with a braking device.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a heavy vehicle, such as a transport vehicle or a "civil engineering" vehicle weighing more than 40 tonnes. Background technique [0002] While not limited to this application, the invention is described in connection with a heavy vehicle such as a transport or "civil engineering" vehicle weighing greater than 500 tonnes and equipped with tires having a diameter greater than 3.5 meters and an axial width greater than 37 inches. [0003] Such vehicles are generally designed to carry heavy loads and comprise a front steered axle with two steered wheels and a rear axle, both generally rigid, with four drive wheels arranged in pairs on either side. [0004] A bridge is defined as the group of elements that enables the fixed structure of a vehicle to be connected to the ground. [0005] The axial or transverse direction of the tire is parallel to the axis of rotation of the tire. [0006] The circumferential direction or l...
