Problems solved by technology

[0004] However, in Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2, silica-alumina glass fibers are heated in an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide to crystallize zeolite on the surface of the glass fibers. As the raw material of zeolite, the amount of glass fiber is reduced, and the amount of glass fiber is reduced, and there are problems such as glass fiber embrittlement.

[0043] Hereinafter, the present invention will be specifically described using Examples and Comparative Examples, but the present invention is not limited by the Examples.

[0044] [Example, comparative example]

[0045] Components (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv) were used in the amounts shown in Table 1 as an example and in the amounts shown in Table 2 as a comparative example, and the following operations were performed.

[0046] 1. (i) Sodium aluminate (Asahi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.: NA-170) and (iii) sodium hydroxide (Nissan Chemical Co., Ltd.: 48 wt% aqueous solution) were mixed with a magnetic stirrer (UniContorols Co., Ltd. ) to make MKY-215) Stir for a few minutes (about 5 minutes) to dissolve the sodium aluminate in the sodium hydroxide solution.

[0047] 2. Next, while stirring (iv) (ii) No. 1 sodium silicate (Tosoh Sangyo Co., Ltd.: No. 1 sodium silicate L2) diluted in water, add the ingredients (i) and (iii) Mix the aqueous solutions.

Abstract

The invention provides: a process for producing zeolite-coated glass fibers in which a silicon compound and an aluminum compound can be simultaneously imparted to glass fibers through one immersion treatment to conduct a zeolite-yielding reaction; and a fibrous structure produced by the process. The process for producing zeolite-coated glass fibers of the invention comprises treating glass fibers with an aqueous solution which contains a silicon compound, an aluminum compound, and sodium hydroxide each dissolved therein, the total amount (Y) of the silicon compound and the aluminum compound in terms of silicon oxide and aluminum oxide, respectively, being 0.0703-1.6403% by mass and the sodium hydroxide concentration (X) in the aqueous solution being 4-15% by mass, the relationship between the total amount (Y) in terms of the sum of silicon oxide and aluminum oxide and the sodium hydroxide concentration (X) being represented by the following expression.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a production method for forming zeolite crystals on the surface of glass fibers, and a zeolite-coated glass fiber structure produced by the above production method. Background technique [0002] Conventionally, a method of producing zeolite-coated glass fibers by immersing silica-alumina glass fibers in a reaction mixture slurry composed of a silica source, an alumina source, an alkali source, and water has been proposed. [0003] Although the above production method has a problem of generating a large amount of powdery zeolite by-products, a method for solving this problem has been proposed. This method includes heating silica-alumina glass fibers in aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to crystallize zeolite on the surface of the glass fibers (see Japanese Patent Documents 1 and 2). [0004] However, in Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2, silica-alumina glass fibers are heated in an aqueous solution of sodium hydro...
