[0025] Figure 1A and 1B Represents two necessary effects that account for the offset between the obtained reference voltage and the calculated reference voltage to occur.

[0026] Figure 1A Indicates the case where the reference voltage is output by an unregulated BGR circuit, the reference voltage is drawn on the Y-axis, and has a higher (reference voltage curve RS+) or lower than the calculated ideal reference voltage curve RS0 over the entire considered temperature range (reference voltage curve RS-), but with an optimally flat profile with respect to its temperature response, and an optimally symmetrical profile with respect to the room or use temperature TR. This effect is mainly caused by the offset in the voltage difference amplifier, hereafter referred to as offset error, and is usually a prevalent error component in unregulated BGR circuits.

[0027] Figure 1B Indicates that the reference voltage has a characteristic of increasing when the temperature increases...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for adjusting a BGR circuit. In a first adjustment step, offset adjustment of a voltage differential amplifier is performed at a predetermined temperature. In the second adjustment step, the reference voltage generated by the BGR circuit is adjusted to a predetermined value of the reference voltage at the predetermined temperature by setting the variable resistance value of the external circuit of the voltage differential amplifier.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for adjusting a BGR circuit and a BGR circuit which can be adjusted according to the method. Background technique [0002] In semiconductor circuit technology there is a need for circuits capable of generating a constant output voltage independent of temperature and supply voltage fluctuations. They are used in analog, digital, and mixed analog / digital circuits. A BGR circuit (bandgap reference circuits, frequency band gap reference circuit) is a circuit of this type that is often used. [0003] The basic principle of a BGR circuit consists of adding two partial signals (voltage or current) with mutually opposite temperature responses. When one of the two partial signals decreases as the temperature increases, the other signal increases as the temperature increases. The summation of the two partial signals thus results in keeping the output voltage constant over a specified range of temperatures. The output voltage...
