Abstract

The invention relates to a quality evaluation method and a device of high-definition video images, which are based on a self-adaptive ST region (space-time sub-region). The input terminal of a self-adaptive ST region definition module is connected with an original video sequence and a damaged sequence to be detected and defines the self-adaptive ST region according to the content of the original video. A self-adaptive ST region partitioning module rates the criteria according to the defined ST region and divides the self-adaptive ST regions on the original sequence and the damaged sequence respectively, as a base for characteristic parameter extraction. A characteristic parameter extraction module, based on the divided ST regions, extracts the characteristic parameters (including space information, time information and space-time mixed information) from the original sequence and the damaged sequence respectively, so as to obtain the characteristic parameter groups corresponding to the original sequence and the damaged sequence. A quality defect degree calculation module, after the comparison of the characteristic parameter groups obtained by the characteristic parameter extraction module, calculates the difference value of the input sequences, thereby completing the measurement of quality defect degree.
