Abstract

Disclosed is an ion implantation process for reinforcing bearing steel ball surface of GCr15 by using nitrogen and titanium as implantation elements which are implanted by employing a linear-beam high-current double-element ion implanter. The invention employs monoenergetic mode with implantation energy of 100KeV (kilo electron volt). Titanium is implanted and then nitrogen is implanted, implantation dose is controlled within 2.0 to 3.0*10 17 Ti+2.0 to 3.0 *10 17 N, linear ion beams are implanted in a steel ball with a curved surface, steel balls with different diameters produce different refraction effects, thereby the implantation dose needs to be adjusted within the implantation dose range according to the real sizes and properties of the steel balls, ensuring the concentration of nitrogen ion implanted on the surface of the steel ball over 18%, the concentration of titanium ion over 10% and uniformity over 85%. The employment of the implantation process is capable of guaranteeing the depth, concentration and uniformity of ion implantation of the surface of the steel ball, and thereby the steel ball surface has the advantages of relatively high hardness, relatively good corrosion resistance and abrasion resistant properties, relatively long endurance life and relatively high reliability.
