Abstract

The invention provides a reworking method of a magnetic head assembly which can ensure welding reliability by re-utilizing a suspension frame with a simple operation and apparatus. A new sliding block replaces a poor sliding block in the magnetic head assembly including an electrode pad welded with a magnetic head sliding block and an electrode pad of the suspension frame. Firstly, cohesional strength between the poor sliding block and the suspension frame is reduced by heating, and welding material of the electrode pad jointing with the poor sliding block and the suspension frame is softened. Next, one part of the softened welding material is left on the electrode pad of the suspension frame and is cut along direction parallel with the electrode pad surface for removing the poor sliding block from the suspension frame. Finally, the new sliding block replacing the poor sliding block is loaded on the suspension frame and the residual welding material on the electrode pad of the suspension frame is re-utilized for jointing the electrode pad of the new sliding block with the electrode pad of the suspension frame.
