Embodiment Construction

[0041] In FIG. 1, a generally schematic example of a processor 10 is shown showing such components as retorts 12 and 14, four permeate tanks 16-22, vessel 26, reactant valve 40, header 38, and The main components of the air pump 44. There are three main fluid subsystems connecting the major components, one subsystem being the air line 30 from the pump 44 to the permeate tanks 16-22 and retorts 12 and 14. A second secondary system is the permeate line 32 connecting the permeate tanks 16-22 to the retorts 12 and 14. A third subsystem is the reagent line 34 connecting the vessel 26 to the reagent valve 40 and the retorts 12 and 14 . A valve system as shown in Figure 2 ensures that fluid flows to the correct destination along each line, and Figure 2 shows a specific example of the connection of the fluid lines and the arrangement of the valves relative to the above elements. The electrical connections between the controller 25, valves, pump 44 and other elements have been omitte...

Abstract

A tissue processor used for processing tissue sample for histopathology analysis, comprising two retorts, a paraffin tank, a reactant vessel, a bump and a valve from a vessel to any retort to distribute the reactant; a divided reactant tube is connected to the paraffin tank to the retort; a method of permeating a sample comprises a reactant like alcohol; wherein the temperature of the permeation material is heated to equal to or higher than the boiling point of the reactant, so that the reactant can be removed through boiling when using the permeation material in contact with the tissue sample, which can reduce the pressure in the retort so as to reduce the boiling point of the reactant.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of an invention patent application with the application number 02822789.1 (PCTAU02 / 01337), the application date being October 1, 2002, and the title "Processing of Histopathological Tissue Samples". technical field [0002] The present invention relates to systems and methods for tissue sample processing for histopathology. Background technique [0003] Preparation of tissue samples for histopathology is a physical process that involves chemical solutions reacting with the biological sample. Typically, samples such as tissue samples obtained from biopsies and autopsies require processing. The end result of this treatment is a paraffin-infiltrated preserved specimen. Once the tissue is embedded in paraffin, it is stable and can then be embedded and sectioned on a microtome. This process generally involves four distinct subroutines: [0004] (a) Fixed [0005] Fixation is a process in which cellular proteins are stabilize...
