The invention provides a method for preparing filtering material for removing acidic gas in air, which includes steps of preparing potassium permanganate solution; granulating: after crushing, raw material aluminum hydroxide (with granularity of 7-15 microns) is treated by flash-roasting to prepare aluminum oxide powder, the aluminum oxide powder is put into a ball forming mill and added with thepotassium permanganate solution to prepare balls, the size of the ball is controlled to about 3-5mm; hydrating: the prepared balls is hydrated by steam with temperature of 95-100DEG C for 6-8 hours; and baking finished product: hydrated filtering material is conveyed into an electro-thermal rotary furnace for activated baking to obtain the finished material. The invention has advantages that effective adsorption capability of the filtering material prepared by the method is 16% to HS, adsorption specific surface area of aluminum oxide is increased, and purification efficiency is improved.
