Embodiment Construction

[0040] As an introduction to the concept of the present invention, figure 1 A waveguide structure comprising two air-filled waveguides interconnected via a resonator (or resonant waveguide) is shown.

[0041] figure 1 A waveguide structure 1 comprising a first gas-filled transmission line or waveguide 10 , a resonator or resonant waveguide 20 and a second gas-filled transmission line or waveguide 30 is shown. Microwaves 40 are fed into the structure 1 at the first end or face 101 of the first gas-filled waveguide 10 . Microwaves propagate along the first transmission line 10 and the second transmission line 30 via the resonant waveguide 20 disposed at the junction between the first transmission line 10 and the second transmission line 30 . The microwaves leave the waveguide structure 1 at the end 302 of the second transmission line 30 , which is the end opposite the end of the transmission line 30 adjacent to the resonant waveguide 20 .

Abstract

The present invention relates to microwave heating equipment. A microwave heating device for heating a load through microwaves is provided. The microwave heating device (300) includes a cavity (350) arranged for receiving a load to be heated, and a supply structure (325) for supplying microwaves into said cavity. The feed structure includes: a transmission line (330) for transmitting microwave energy generated by a microwave source (310); and a resonator (320) arranged at the junction between the transmission line and the cavity for operation It is the supply port (320a) of the cavity. The dielectric constant of the material constituting the interior of the resonator and the dimensions of the resonator are chosen such that resonant conditions are established in the resonator for the microwaves generated by the source and in the transmission line, the Impedance matching is established between the resonator and the cavity. Additionally, the present invention provides a microwave heating device (500) including a plurality of supply ports (525, 525') with reduced crosstalk.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of microwave heating. In particular, the invention relates to a microwave heating device comprising a feed structure enabling operation of said device substantially independent of the load to be heated. Background technique [0002] Microwave heating techniques involve supplying microwave energy into the cavity. When heating a load, for example in the form of food, by means of a microwave heating device, many aspects must be taken into account. Most of these aspects are well known to those skilled in the art, including for example the desire to obtain uniform heating of the food while absorbing the maximum amount of available microwave power in the food to achieve a satisfactory degree of efficiency. In particular, the operation of the microwave heating device is preferably independent or at least hardly sensitive to the nature of the load to be heated. [0003] In European patent EP0478053, a microwave heating dev...
