Network system and method for supporting host computer mobility in Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4)-Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) hybrid network environment

A hybrid network and network system technology, applied in transmission systems, digital transmission systems, data exchange networks, etc., can solve the problem of not thoroughly considering the process of mobile host movement detection and formation of new addresses, and not fully considering the host mobility scenarios and other issues. Communication process, ignoring problems such as mobility in transition phase, to achieve the effect of good promotion and application prospect, cost saving and quantity reduction

Problems solved by technology

[0007] However, both mobile IPv4 technology and mobile IPv6 technology only consider the host mobility in the communication between pure IPv4 environment and pure IPv6 environment, and ignore the mobility in the transition stage, so it has the following two One defect: when a dual-stack host in a pure IPv4 network traverses a pure IPv6 network or communicates with an IPv6 host in a pure IPv6 network, the dual-stack host moves within or between pure IPv4 networks or the dual-stack host moves in a pure IPv4 network. Two scenarios for moving between the network and the IPv6 network
[0010] HIP relies on the modification of the traditional protocol layer to better support the mobility of the host, but it also has the following problems: Like the mobile IP technology, it does not fully consider the possible host mobility scenarios and communication processes in the transition stage, only considering The host mobility in communication between pure IPv4 environment and pure IPv6 environment
No in-depth consideration is given to the movement detection of mobile hosts and the process of forming new addresses when hosts move

Embodiment Construction

[0038] In order to make the object, technical solution and advantages of the present invention clearer, the present invention will be further described in detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

[0039] see figure 1 , figure 2 and image 3 , introducing several scenarios of host movement that may occur during the transition phase to which the present invention is applicable. When a dual-stack host in an IPv4 network environment needs to communicate across an IPv6 network environment, it must use the IPv6in IPv4 tunneling technology, that is, the host must form a tunnel address in IPv6 address format (such as Figure 4 shown), where the prefix of the tunnel address can only be obtained after applying to the border router. In the existing mobile IPv4 technology, when a host moves to a new IPv4 domain, the host can obtain a new IPv4 address through foreign agent assignment or DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), but cannot automatically obtain an I...

Abstract

The invention discloses a network system and a network method for supporting host computer mobility in an Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4)-Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) hybrid network environment. The system is provided with a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server, a host computer, a mapping server and a boundary router, wherein functional modules are extended for the DHCP server and the host computer; the added mapping server is only used for storing the mapping relation between a host computer home address which belongs to a domain before movement and an intra-site automatic tunnel addressing protocol (ISATAP) care-of address after movement; the boundary router is required to support dual stacks and an ISATAP, and is used for recording an identifier (ID) and a boundary router address of the domain where the host computer is positioned in a newly-added option field of a DHCP response message; and the host computer can detect the mobility of the host computer to obtain the ID and the boundary router address of the domain, and transmits a mapping update message to the mapping server and an opposite communication end. By the system and the method, the mobility in a transition stage from the IPv4 to the IPv6 is well supported, the conventional IPv4 network equipment is fully utilized, and capitals and manpower needed by the updating of the transition stage and the deployment of new equipment are reduced. The network system has a simple structure, the mapping server has simple functions, any manual configuration is not required, and good popularization prospect is achieved.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a network system and method for supporting host mobility in an IPv4 and IPv6 mixed network environment, and belongs to the technical field of network communication. Background technique [0002] With the rapid development of the Internet, people's demand for host mobility is also increasing. However, the existing network environment is still in the transitional stage, and it is likely to be in this mixed network environment of IPv4 and IPv6 for a considerable period of time in the future. figure 1 , figure 2 and image 3 Shown are several possible mobility communication scenarios during the transition phase. figure 1 The dual-stack host in the IPv4 environment passes through the IPv6 core network for IPv6 communication, and the dual-stack host moves within the IPv4 network domain. figure 2 It is a dual-stack host in an IPv4 environment that traverses the IPv6 core network for IPv6 communication, and the dual-stack host mo...
