Embodiment Construction

[0027] Describe below in conjunction with accompanying drawing:

[0028] Such as figure 1 As shown, the traditional quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator is composed of two differential voltage-controlled oscillators VCO1 and VCO2 and two pairs of coupling transistors M1-M2 and M3-M4. Among them, M5-M6 and M7-M8 are negative resistance tubes used to maintain oscillation. Basic principles such as figure 2 As shown, the cross-coupling method will introduce a phase shift of 180°. According to the Barkhausen criterion, the phase shift introduced by the entire loop is an integer multiple of 2π. It is then assumed that the phase shifts introduced by the two voltage-controlled oscillators are equal to Φ, which satisfies 2Φ+π=2π, that is, Φ=π / 2. For traditional quadrature voltage-controlled oscillators, the larger the coupling coefficient k=Iinj / Iosc, the better the orthogonality. However, the injected current will cause the Q value of the LC resonant cavity to decrease, there...

Abstract

The invention, which belongs to the integrated circuit technology field of a radio frequency wireless receiver, relates to a low-phase noise quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator based on an injection locked frequency multiplier; and the quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator can be applied to a wireless receiver integrated circuit. The quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator comprises: twovoltage-controlled oscillators, which work at a fundamental frequency f0; two pairs of coupling tubes; and a voltage-controlled oscillator, which works at second harmonic generation 2f0. Besides, thecoupling tubes and the voltage-controlled oscillator with a working frequency of 2f0 form an injection locked frequency multiplier. According to the invention, a phase noise is determined by a difference voltage-controlled oscillator with a working frequency of f0 and a phase error is determined by an injection locked frequency multiplier. Moreover, the low-phase noise quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator provided in the invention is not different from the traditional quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator; more particularly, there is no compromising relation between a phase noise and aphase error in the low-phase noise quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator, so that low phase noises can be realized on the premise that a high phase precision is ensured.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of radio frequency wireless receiver integrated circuits, and in particular relates to a low-phase-noise quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator (Quadrature Voltage-Controlled Oscillator, QVCO) applied to a frequency synthesizer of a wireless receiver. Background technique [0002] With the development of wireless communication technology, zero-IF and low-IF radio frequency wireless receivers have been widely used. Both receiver structures require quadrature signals for image rejection and demodulation. There are generally several methods for generating quadrature signals: [0003] (1) RC phase-shift network: first design a differential voltage-controlled oscillator, and then send the output of the voltage-controlled oscillator to the RC phase-shift network to realize quadrature signal output. The orthogonality of the signal obtained by this method is relatively poor, and the power consumption is relative...
