Abstract

Example devices, systems, and methods disclosed herein relate to controlling operation of a jockey pump of a fire pump system. A jockey pump controller may include an electronic circuit board configured to receive a signal indicating a pressure value, and to compare the pressure value to a threshold for initiating operation of a jockey pump. The jockey pump controller may further include memory configured to store event statistics indicating information regarding past operation of the jockey pump. Additional example devices, systems, and methods are described herein.

Description

technical field [0001] This patent application relates to a programmable controller for a surge pump or charge pump (also commonly referred to in the art as a jockey pump). More particularly, this patent application relates to systems and methods for controlling the operation of such regulated pumps and pump operation in data entry pump systems such as fire pump systems. Background technique [0002] Fire protection systems may include sprinkler systems and / or standpipe systems. A sprinkler system is an active fire protection measure that provides sufficient pressure and flow to a water distribution piping system connected to multiple sprinklers. Once the ambient temperature around the sprinkler reaches the individual sprinkler's programmed activation temperature, each sprinkler can be triggered to close. In a standard wet pipe sprinkler system, each sprinkler is activated independently when a predetermined heat level is reached. For this reason, the number of sprinklers ...
