Embodiment approach

[0053] In some cases it may be tempting to exclude the feed cooling section 118a from the process equipment 118 and to cool the feed using a heat exchange device external to the process equipment, such as Figures 10 to 17 The heat exchanger 10 shown in. This arrangement allows process equipment 118 to be smaller, which can reduce overall factory costs and / or shorten manufacturing schedules in some cases. NOTE: In all cases, exchanger 10 represents a plurality of individual heat exchangers or a single multi-pass heat exchanger or any combination thereof. Each such heat exchanger may comprise a fin-and-tube heat exchanger, a plate heat exchanger, a brazed aluminum heat exchanger, or other types of heat transfer devices, including multi-pass and / or multi-operation heat exchangers.

[0054] In some cases it may be desirable to provide stream 35 directly to the lower region of absorption section 118d via stream 40, such as figure 2 , 4 , 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16. In this case,...

Abstract

A process and an apparatus are disclosed for a compact processing assembly to recover propane, propylene, and heavier hydrocarbon components from a hydrocarbon gas stream. The gas stream is cooled, expanded to lower pressure, and fed to an absorbing means. A first distillation liquid stream from the absorbing means is fed to a mass transfer means. A first distillation vapor stream from the mass transfer means is cooled to partially condense it, forming a residual vapor stream and a condensed stream. The condensed stream is supplied as the top feed to the absorbing means. A second distillation vapor stream from the absorbing means is heated by cooling the first distillation vapor stream, combined with the residual vapor stream, and heated by cooling the gas stream. A second distillation liquid stream from the mass transfer means is heated in a heat and mass transfer means to strip out its volatile components.

Description

technical field [0001] Ethylene, ethane, propylene, propane and / or heavy hydrocarbons can be recovered from a variety of gases such as natural gas, refinery gas and other hydrocarbon materials such as coal, crude oil, naphtha, oil shale, tar sands and lignite) to obtain syngas streams. Natural gas typically has a major proportion of methane and ethane, ie, methane and ethane together comprise at least 50 mole percent of the natural gas. Natural gas also contains relatively small amounts of heavy hydrocarbons (such as propane, butane, pentane, etc.) as well as hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and other gases. [0002] The present invention generally relates to the recovery of ethylene, ethane, propylene, propane and heavy hydrocarbons from such gas streams. A typical analysis of a gas stream to be treated in accordance with the present invention results in approximate mole percentages of 90.3% methane, 4.0% ethane and other C 2 Components, 1.7% propane and other C 3 Compo...
