Abstract

The invention relates to monoclonal antibodies, or binding fragments thereof that bind Enterovirus (EV) 71. Antibodies, fragments of such antibodies retaining EV71-binding ability, fully human or humanized antibodies retaining EV71-binding ability, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising such antibodies are disclosed. Isolated nucleic acids encoding the antibodies of the invention and host cells transfected therewith are also disclosed. Additionally, prophylactic, therapeutic, and diagnostic methods employing the antibodies and nucleic acids of the invention are disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the application in the field of immunology for nerve cell protection, in particular to a single-source antibody that binds and / or neutralizes enterovirus 71. Background technique [0002] Enterovirus 71 is a positive-sense RNA virus classified in the family Picornaviridae. Since the first case of EV71 infection in California, USA in 1969, the virus has regularly infected humans around the world. Infection with enterovirus 71 (and some of its genetically close counterparts, such as coxsackievirus 16 (CA16) and CA10), is known to cause a mild rash that may manifest as mouth, foot, and hand in infants and children disease (HFMD) / herpetic angina. Periodic outbreaks of enterovirus 71 infection pandemics in the Asia-Pacific region over the past 10-12 years have resulted in pulmonary edema / hemorrhage that kills many infected children. Among EV 71 genogroups, viruses of genogroups B and C have been isolated during the pandem...
