Without wishing to be bound by theory, when the resulting dispersion (or therapeutic fluid) is introduced into a patient, the hydrogen nanobubbles contained therein reduce the amount of ROS and restore the necessary redox balance in the patient. Thus, cellular damage due to oxidative stress is reduced and various conditions associated with oxidative stress (eg aging, stroke) are alleviated. The level of therapeutic gas in the dispersion (or liquid carrier) depends on the rate of injection into the body as well as the threshold level above which the gas concentration may cease to be therapeutic and may become toxic. Accordingly, the concentration of gas is determined by the level at which the desired therapeutic effect is observed.
