Problems solved by technology

This makes the fiber laser system less stable
For a fiber laser with an all-fiber structure and single-polarized fiber laser output, the polarization-maintaining fiber pump coupler is its core component. The existing polarization-maintaining fiber pump coupler in the prior art adopts the end-pumping method, and the coupler is manufactured In the process, the polarization maintaining main fiber is cut off first and then fused with the output fiber, so the signal light coupling efficiency of the polarization maintaining fiber pump coupler is only 90%, and the polarization extinction ratio is about 20dB

Embodiment 2

[0047] Such as figure 1 , figure 2 As shown in a-2f, this embodiment records a method for manufacturing the polarization-maintaining optical fiber pump coupler described in Embodiment 1, including the following steps:

[0048] S1: Remove the coating layer 113 of several pumping fibers 110 in the pumping fiber bundle to be fused to expose the cladding layer 111; remove the coating layer 123 of the polarization-maintaining main fiber 120 from one end to expose the inner cladding layer 121 and form transition zone 122, the stress structure 124 of the transition zone 122 remains intact;

[0049] S2: Taper the part of the pump fiber 110 from which the coating layer 113 has been removed to a predetermined size according to a certain taper to form a taper end 112; during the taper process, the central fiber of the pump fiber bundle is replaced by a metal wire 130; After the taper is completed, the metal wire 130 is extracted, and the pump fiber bundle is formed into a hollow fiber...

Embodiment 3

[0056] Such as image 3 As shown in a-3c, this embodiment records a polarization-maintaining fiber pump coupler. As a specific example of Embodiment 1, the polarization-maintaining main fiber 220 of this embodiment is a panda-type polarization-maintaining main fiber, as image 3 As shown in b, the transition region 222 of the polarization maintaining main fiber 220 is a cylinder whose radial dimension is smaller than the radial dimension of the main body of the inner cladding 221 of the polarization maintaining main fiber 220, and a stepped surface 227 is formed between the transition region 222 and the main body of the inner cladding 221, so The tapered end 212 of the pumping fiber is closely attached to the radially outer surface of the transition zone 221 and the end of the tapered end 212 is tightly against the stepped surface 227, and the end of the tapered end 212 of the pumping fiber The diameter of is equivalent to the radius difference between the main body transition...

Abstract

The invention discloses a polarization maintaining fiber pumped coupler and a manufacturing method thereof. The coupler comprises a polarization maintaining main fiber and a pumped fiber bundle containing a plurality of pumped fibers, wherein one end of the pumped fiber bundle is a hollow part formed by a cladding of a tapering end; one end of the polarization maintaining main fiber is a transition zone which exposes an inner cladding and is inserted into the hollow part; the transition zone is provided with a complete stress structure; and the outer surface of the transition zone is in close contact with and integrally fused with the inner surface of the hollow part of the tapering end. The manufacturing method comprises the following steps of: preprocessing a plurality of pumped fibers to form the hollow fiber bundle, and cutting in the middle; reducing or not reducing the diameter of the inner cladding of the polarization maintaining main fiber on the premise of not damaging a fire core and the stress structure; inserting the preprocessed main fiber into the hollow pumped fiber bundle to ensure that the main fiber is in close fit with the fiber bundle; and integrally fusing the main fiber with the fiber bundle, and recoating the main fiber. The fire core and the stress structure of the polarization maintaining main fiber are not damaged during coupling, and signal coupling efficiency and polarization extinction ratio are improved.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the technical field of lasers, in particular to a polarization-maintaining optical fiber pump coupler and a manufacturing method thereof. Background technique [0002] Single-polarization output high-power high-energy fiber lasers and amplifiers have broad application prospects in many fields such as fiber optic gyroscopes, fiber optic sensors, nonlinear frequency conversion, and coherent beam combination. Therefore, it is of great significance to study fiber lasers with single-polarization output characteristics and a certain extinction ratio, and single-polarization fiber lasers have become one of the current research hotspots. However, the main way to obtain single-polarized fiber laser output today is to use discrete optical components to achieve pump light coupling. This makes the fiber laser system less stable. For a fiber laser with an all-fiber structure and single-polarized fiber laser output, the polarization-mainta...
