Abstract

The invention relates to a liquid crystal display and a detection method thereof. The liquid crystal display comprises a liquid crystal display panel and a drive circuit. The drive circuit drives the liquid crystal display panel to display images. The drive circuit comprises a control unit, a scan driving circuit, a data driving circuit and a detection circuit. The scan driving circuit and the data driving circuit exert a scanning impulse and a testing impulse respectively on a pixel unit defined by a scanning line and a data line in the liquid crystal display panel. The testing impulse comprises first voltage. The detection circuit is electrically connected with the data line. In second preset time after the scanning impulse and the testing impulse are output to the pixel unit, the control unit controls the detection circuit to detect the voltage of the data line. When the voltage on the data line is smaller than the first voltage, display of the pixel unit is indicated to be normal, and otherwise the pixel unit is indicated to be damaged.
