Problems solved by technology

However, such riveting usually involves the problem that during the riveting process recesses are formed on the surfaces of the interconnected parts, especially in the outer surface of the casing, and therefore certain unevenness is introduced into said surface
However, manual filling of such recesses is time-consuming and expensive
Also, in that way, it's hard to get the desired result

Embodiment Construction

[0032] figure 1 In , a flow chart of a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention for producing an aircraft structural component 1 having an outer skin 3 with a smooth surface 5 is shown.

[0033] As a first step, an aircraft structural component 1 is provided which has a skin 3 comprising a plurality of recesses 7 (step a.). The aircraft structural component 1 can be basically any kind of aircraft structural component 1, such as a fuselage or fuselage section, wing or wing section, tail unit, rudder, elevator, aileron, high-lift system, engine cover , or similar components, and the previously mentioned components, but in this embodiment the aircraft structural components are fuselage sections (see figure 2 ). The fuselage section comprises an outer skin 3 having an outer surface 5 and a plurality of supporting structures 9 , such as frames and stringers, the outer skin 3 being mounted on the fuselage section by means of a plurality of rivets 11 . During...

Abstract

The invention discloses a method for producing an aircraft structural component (1) having a skin (3) with a smooth outer surface (5). The method comprises the steps of: providing an aircraft structural component (1) having a skin (3) comprising at least one recess (7); detecting the position of said at least one recess (7) by means of recess detection means (17); and filling the at least one recess (7) at the detected position with filler material particles (23), which are applied into the at least one recess (7) by means of an inkjet printing device (27) .

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for producing a structural part of an aircraft (aircraft) having a skin with a smooth outer surface. Background technique [0002] Even though fiber composite materials have been used to a large extent in the construction of aircraft, today many aircraft structural components are made of metallic materials, such as aluminum, wherein the individual parts of the aircraft structural components, such as skins and supporting structures (such as: frame and stringers) are connected to each other by rivets because riveting is both reliable and very easy to establish between two metal parts. However, such riveting generally involves the problem that during the riveting process recesses are formed on the surfaces of the interconnected parts, especially in the outer surface of the housing, whereby certain unevennesses are introduced into said surfaces. In more detail, said recess is generally adjacent to the rivet mounted in the...
