Abstract

The invention relates to a shaft seal. The shaft seal comprises at least an impeller side seal element in a piston manner, and a support side seal element in a seal gap manner. An oil discharge chamber is disposed between the impeller side seal element and the support side seal element and spaced by a third seal element in a seal gap manner. An air exhaust chamber is disposed between the third seal element and the impeller side seal element. A sleeve and a support element housing jointly form the oil discharge chamber and the air exhaust chamber, and the sleeve comprises at least a groove for storing at least a piston ring. Two short bearing bases at two corresponding end parts of the sleeve replace continuous bearing bases, so that contact area between the shaft and the support sleeve is reduced, and then heat input of the impeller through the shaft is reduced.
