The method comprises the following steps of calibrating internal parameters of a camera, establishing a coordinate system and creating a cylindrical projective plane; acquiring video images; projecting the video images onto the cylindrical projective plane according to a projection computation sequence to create the panorama. The invention also provides a device for generating the panorama in real time. According to the scheme provided by the embodiment of invention, the panorama can be generated and previewed in real time by utilizing video streaming, and the method and the device have the characteristics of simple operation and low requirement on hardware. According to the scheme provided by the invention, a panoramic picture can be generated and previewed in real time on mobile equipment such as the current mainstream mobile phones.
