Abstract

The invention provides an image file carving restoration method based on contents, belongs to the technical fields of information safety and computer application, relates to a Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) image file restoration method and in particular relates to a method for restoring a JPEG image file which is deleted from a data storage device already and of which the related file system metainformation is damaged. The carving restoration method comprises the steps of firstly, obtaining an ordered set of all data blocks of a storage device requiring the carving restoration operation by use of a related interface provided by an operating system, secondly, carrying out preprocessing to obtain a set of data block to be restored by carving, and finally, performing carving restoration on the set of data block to be restored by carving. The carving restoration method is applicable to data storage devices including an NAND flash memory, is not affected by the existence of a file system or not, and is high in accuracy rate. The carving restoration method is capable of operating normally on a non-continuous storing data storage device in which a traditional algorithm is incapable of operating, and also capable of helping the related personnel with restoring important JPEG image data in the fields of criminal investigation and data restoration.
