[0044] This plant comprises a melting tank 1 and a rapid heating tank 2, which is located downstream of the melting tank. The vitrifiable material is introduced into the melting tank 1 via a feeder 3 . The melting tank 1 and the heating tank 2 comprise submerged burners 8,9 at their bottom. In the respective tank 1 , 2 the fill level of the glass pool 4 , 5 is determined by the position of the overflow 6 , 7 through which the liquid glass flows out. The liquid glass obtained at the outlet of the melting tank 1 flows directly through the overflow 6 into the melting tank 2 where it rises from the temperature T 1 heated to temperature T 2 . Both tanks comprise metal walls penetrated by an internal duct system 10 in which the coolant circulates. Active cooling of the walls results in the formation of a layer of solidified glass 11 which separates the metal walls from the glass pool.
