Embodiment Construction

[0021] The present application provides the functionality to wirelessly transmit defibrillator data to a patient monitoring device and display the defibrillator data on a large display screen of the patient monitoring device. The present application also provides functionality to wirelessly transmit data collected by the patient monitoring device to the defibrillator device so it can be analyzed and displayed by the defibrillator. The present application also provides functionality to wirelessly transmit defibrillator event data to a patient monitoring device so it can be integrated and recorded with patient data collected by the patient monitoring device to form a complete medical record in the patient's electronic health record . The present application also includes clock synchronization so that events and data from two devices can be chronologically merged and recorded in the electronic health record.

Abstract

A defibrillator (12) wirelessly communicates with a patient monitor (10). Patient data collected by a measurement module (34, 66) is transmitted between the defibrillator and the patient monitor using a wireless node (42, 60) while the patient is in cardiac arrest. The transmitted data is integrated with the data already resident on each respective device using a data integration module (36, 46), and the transmitted data is then displayed on a display (38, 62) to the patients in the patient's room The first responder team in , allowing each member of the first responder team to see data from both devices by reading only one of the displays. The consolidated data is also associated with a synchronized clock between the two devices. The integrated data is then compiled into a single unified report including data from both devices and attached to the patient's electronic health record located on the patient records database (24).

Description

technical field [0001] This application relates to medical technology and has particular application to, and will be described with particular reference to, defibrillators. However, it should be understood that the present application applies to other medical interventions and procedures as well. When a hospital patient becomes unresponsive due to tachycardia or fibrillation, emergency teams are called to the patient's room to attempt resuscitation. An emergency team typically includes: a physician trained in advanced cardiac life support, a person operating a defibrillator from a mobile other professionals. Background technique [0002] The defibrillator provides a display screen that shows the patient's ECG and other vital signs needed for a diagnosis to be made. The display screen also shows data related to the delivery of electrical therapy including shock and pacing pulses. However, because some people are too far away or because the defibrillator is angled away fro...
