Abstract

A molding tool for producing components in a gas-assisted injection molding process includes a mold cavity and an injection device with a source of pressurized gas. Pressurized gas is supplied to the plastic melt which is introduced into the mold cavity. The plastic melt is compressed against the inner walls of the mold cavity. The injection device has a plunger with a syringe head and is movably guided in a channel of a molding tool connected to the mold cavity. The syringe head forms part of the inner wall of the mold cavity in the rest position of the piston and is pressed into the plastic melt when the piston is moved to its operative position so that pressurized gas flows through the channel into the plastic melt in the mold cavity. The piston can be moved by gas supplied through the channel into the plastic melt.
