Problems solved by technology

This negatively affects the mass moment of inertia of the entire tappet
Furthermore, it has been found that the height of the tappet, the so-called "drawing depth", is limited by the above-mentioned production process, which can lead, for example, to guiding or sealing problems on its outer peripheral side
In this case, the machining cost of the tappet is high

Embodiment Construction

[0016] From figure 1 Tappet 1 can be seen. The tappet is provided for use in a high-pressure fuel pump of an internal combustion engine.

[0017] The tappet 1 has a tubular housing 2 . The housing accommodates a roller 5 for camming in the region of its upper annular end face 3 . The rollers are supported on a pin 4 , which is supported by each of its ends 6 in a flat 8 recessed in one piece from the outer peripheral side 7 of the housing 2 .

[0018] Arranged axially below the roller 5 in the housing 2 is a mechanism 9 for indirectly abutting the pump piston as a tappet follower. The pump piston itself, as shown for example in DE 10 2010 022 318 A1, bears against the underside of a bridge which can be supported on the lower end face 13 of the flat 8 extending on the side of the other annular end face 14 of the housing 2 . Therefore, the lower end surface 13 of the flat portion 8 acts as the mechanism 9 .

[0019] The housing 2 of the tappet 1 is formed from an extruded p...

Abstract

The invention relates to a plunger (1) having a tube-like housing (2), which in the region of one of the end faces (3) thereof receives a roller (5) running on a pin (4) and serving for starting a periodic stroke generator. The pin (4) is mounted via the ends (6) thereof in a flat portion (8) that is indented from an outer surface (7) of the housing, wherein in the housing (2), axially beneath the roller (5), means (9) are provided for an at least indirect bearing of a plunger follower member. The housing (2) consists of an extruded profile having profiling on the inner surface (10) of the housing (2), wherein, viewed in the circumferential direction of the housing (2), at least two thick-wall profiled segments and two thin-wall profiled segments (11, 12) are present. The thick-wall profiled segments lie diametrically opposite each other and the thin-wall profiled segments lie diametrically opposite each other, wherein the flat portions (8) are located in the thick-wall profiled segments (11).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a tappet having a tubular housing which accommodates, in the region of its annular end face, a roller running on a pin for starting a cyclic stroke generator, the pin passing through its end The portion is supported in a flat recessed from the outer peripheral side of the housing, wherein a mechanism for at least indirectly blocking the tappet follower is arranged in the housing axially below the roller. Background technique [0002] A tappet of the aforementioned type is known from DE 10 2010 022 318 A1 for use in high-pressure fuel pumps for internal combustion engines. Its tubular shell is either deep-drawn or produced by extrusion. It has a substantially constant wall thickness. The housing is oversized in some wall sections and is therefore too heavy. This has a negative effect on the mass moment of inertia of the entire tappet. Furthermore, it has been found that the height of the tappet, the so-called "drawing depth"...
