The invention discloses a CQI coding device and method, belonging to the technical field of mobile communication systems. The device comprises a receiving unit, a first storage unit, a second storage unit, a first coding searching unit, a second coding searching unit and a calculation unit, wherein the first coding searching unit is respectively connected to the receiving unit and the first storage unit; the second coding searching unit is respectively connected to the receiving unit and the second storage unit; and the calculation unit is respectively connected to the first coding searching unit and the second coding searching unit. The method comprises the following steps: dividing a CQI information sequence including 10 bits into 32 kinds of possible values of the former 5 bits after being coded and 32 kinds of possible values of the later 5 bits after being coded, and respectively storing; respectively searching a table according to the received former 5 bits and the received later 5 bits of the CQI information sequence so as to obtain corresponding first coding values and second coding values; and performing modular two-addition operation by corresponding the first coding values to the second coding values bit by bit so as to obtain a CQI coding sequence. The technical scheme provided by the invention has the benefits that: the additive operation in the coding process is reduced; and the coding calculation complexity is reduced.
