Abstract

Disclosed in the present invention is a rapid decision making method for intra-frame prediction mode in video coding. The number of prediction modes of performing rate-distortion optimization is reduced by means of determining a prediction orientation and constructing a PML using a correlation of an angle mode and a prediction unit (PU) size; comprising: predicting orientations in a principal prediction orientation set, and selecting first three modes of optimal rate-distortion cost; adding a mode in an adjacent direction of the first three modes, a Planar mode and a DC mode into a PML; calculating the rate-distortion cost of the modes in the PML; adding modes in an MPM into the PML without repetition; performing final rate-distortion optimization; and using the mode with the lowest rate-distortion cost as an optimal mode of intra-frame prediction of a current PU block.
