The method comprises the steps of numbering infrared light-emitting diodes and infrared light-receiving diodes on all edges; processing infrared light-emitting diode signals received by the infrared light-emitting diodes in sequence according to a number sequence to obtain pits in which the signals are blocked; performing pit registration and touch point center rough locating by utilizing infrared light-receiving diode signals on the single edges; performing touch point center fine locating in combination with a roughly located touch point center by utilizing infrared light-receiving diode signal pits of the adjacent edges of the single edges; and performing calculation by integrating touch point center fine locating results of all the single edges to obtain a final coordinate position of a touch point. Information obtained on the receiving diodes is effectively integrated; the touch point identification accuracy and the locating precision are both relatively high; the calculation complexity is low; the memory occupation size is small; the method is especially fit for single chip microcomputer realization; and the method is suitable for not only a conventional structure of which a ratio of emitting diodes to receiving diodes is 1, but also a structure of which the ratio of emitting diodes to receiving diodes is greater than 1, so that the range of application to the structure is wide.
