Abstract

The invention provides a differential data backup method, a differential data backup device and a storage system. The storage system comprises a processor, production volume and target volume. The records of the differential data between two serial numbers are obtained by the processor, and the serial numbers are used to identify the time segment of the data written into the production volume. The first serial number in the two serial numbers is an allocated serial number of data received by the production volume at the most recent time before the creation of the first snapshot of the production volume, the second serial number in the two serial numbers is an allocated serial number of data received by the production volume at the most recent time after the creation of the second snapshot of the production volume. The records of the differential data comprise the logical addresses of the differential data received within the time segment identified by all the serial numbers between the two serial numbers. The backup data are obtained from the second snapshot by the processor according to the records of the differential data, and are sent to the target volume.
