Abstract

The invention relates to a tricyclic-16QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) mapping design scheme of a novel tricyclic-structure in a bit-interleaved coded modulation iterative demodulation / decoding (BICM-ID) system. The scheme aims to improve the effectiveness and the reliability of the BICM-ID system, and on the basis of an Euclidean distance principle, the 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (16QAM) mapping design scheme is optimized with the combination of min-square European weight (MSEW) principles and bit-minimum decision region maximization principles. Simulation results show that the channel capacity of the scheme is larger than those of schemes of classical Gray mapping, set partition (SP) mapping and mixed set partition (MSP) mapping, and the scheme has relatively good effectiveness and relatively good reliability; in addition, the decoding performance of a low-density parity check code combined with the BICM-ID system is relatively well matched with the tricyclic-16QAM mapping scheme, and the scheme has relatively good error bit performance theoretically.
