Embodiment Construction

[0016] Figure 5 Shown is an exaggerated possible dislocation between the truck axle and the generator shaft, which can be accommodated by the coupling arrangement. Dislocations between the truck axle and the generator axle can occur in 5 degrees of freedom including three directions X, Y, Z and 2 angles V and W. Dislocations can also be described in terms of axial, radial and angular directions, whereby axial dislocations can occur in direction Z, radial dislocations can occur in direction X and direction Y or a combination thereof, and angular dislocations can occur in Occurs at angle V and angle W or a combination thereof.

Abstract

An axle generator for a brake system for a railway vehicle is disclosed, the generator being provided with a peg adapted to be driven by rotation of the axle, rotation of the peg rotating magnets being parts of the generator to generate electricity. The peg is adapted to drivingly engage with a coupling element to transmit rotation from the axle to the peg. The coupling element has an opening slot adapted to receive the peg, the coupling element being configured to permit motion relative to the peg in five degrees of freedom.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an axle generator for use in a braking system of a railway vehicle with integrated wheel slide protection. Background technique [0002] Railroad vehicle braking systems are typically air brakes. In recent years, such systems combining wheel slip control and wheel spin control have been established in the passenger train market. Both wheel skid and wheel spin result from low adhesion of the wheels to the track. Wheel skid typically occurs when braking railcars and is a major cause of wheel damage that can lead to track destruction. [0003] A typical wheel slip control system includes sensors located on each axle of the vehicle that measure the rotational speed of the axle. In use, the output of the sensor is then fed into the brake control unit which compares this value with that of the adjacent axle and releases and reapplies the brakes if the difference exceeds a predetermined limit. dynamic pressure until the axle speed...
